Diablo Iii Patch 1.0.8 Download

Soon patch will be better for farming groups. (1.0.8)
So let's take a look guiding light/combination strike builds for groups.
Why 2 monks? Cause it's obviously we got tons of active skills that useful for group. Trust me 1 monk is not enough for perfect combination of this idea. Let's see what is it.
-Reached 788k dps with WKL for 3 seconds with group buff. (226k unbuff dps)
Proof: http://imgur.com/wNXqhBT
You can even get 1 million+ dps.
-Got normally 400k dps with this group/build. (permanent)
Destroyer of Heaven:
  • up to +%300 damage increase technique in group. (effective guiding light)
  • amazing crowd control and aoe damage.
  • Almost +%100 damage increase with build/group. (permanent - destroyer monk)

    Quickening
Critical Hits generate an additional 15 Spirit for each target hit.

    Total Buffs:
    - Combination strike effect on Fists of Thunder
    8%

    - Guiding Light effect
    %20 with 1.0.8 patch
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    First monk role: (Burst Damage)
    - Keep up your combination strike buffs with using your spirit generators as much as you can
    - Keep up your skill/rune buffs as much as you can.
    - Spam mantra
    - Use Breath of Heaven to group for triggering guiding light effect.
    - Pop up blinding flash on elites as much as you can.
    - Attack one of elites that marked with exploding palm
    - Attack generally enemies that marked with exploding palm.
    Second monk role: (Support/Crowd Controll)
    - Keep up your combination strike buffs as much as you can.
    - Keep active mantra.
    - When there is alot of mob use Crippling Wave instead of Fist of Thunder to get much more spirit from each target for spamming exploding palm and cyclone strike
    - When you focus single target use Fists of Thunder to get enough spirit for spamming Exploding Palm
    - Try to mark/attack with exploding palm as much as you can for area and elites. If you use Cyclone Strike and then Exploding Palm, you will help to do amazing area damage for party. (crowd control)
    Conclusion: Amazingness with 2 monks.
Ofcourse you need some practice about that. And keep in mind you can change and use everything on your passives. (Except combination strike and guiding light)
Quote from blue post for incoming patch also.
    Passive Skills
    Guiding Light
Damage bonus increased from 16% to 20%

Special thanks to Niko as CM Wizard. We had time to work on Heaven Monk. It was the hardest part of 2 monks actually. You can talk about this idea when he streams.

I was wrong about guiding light effect. How?
I thought trangression rune is effecting guiding light when we spam
It's obviously breath of heaven effect when destroyer monk use it.
To many numbers and stuff there.
So i was confused tonight when i try to setup this technique on forum. One of good monk streamer (MODZ) mentinoed it and reworked these builds.
    Updated skill setups:
-Added Guiding Light to destroyer monk setup.
    http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/monk#abXSYk!gfX!acbcca (Destroyer Monk)
-Added Exalted Soul passive to heaven monk setup. Finally Heaven Monk got enough spirit pool to spam skills.
    http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/monk#aWfSVi!gbX!abZcaZ (Heaven Monk)
    Role updates:
    - Use Breath of Heaven to group for triggering guiding light effect.
Sorry, was drunk enough before. Hope it make sense now. And need some feedback guys!
Actually, if your destroyer monk has above 50% CC, then using WoHF blazing fists (15% ias and run speed) instead of DR foresight will give you much better effective DPS increase and bigger brust dps.
Esp when you also put beakon of yatar on him as well (for ex. instead of seize initiative).
Blinding Flash/Faith in the Light scales much better with IAS than anithing else. When you hit BF/Faith in the light and let say you have 1k dps weapon, for the next 3 seconds you are using 1.3k dps weapons instead. More hits you manage to land during these 3 seconds, higher effective DPS output you get. For example, with 2.5 attacks per second, hitting BF/FitL effectively doubles your DPS for 3 seconds. That also means that if you have 2.5 attack per seconds, using Beakon of Yatar (3 seconds reduce CD on Blinding Flash) will boost your dps around 20-25% (depending on the fight length). And if you only use FoT when you under Blinding Flash it will make this build really shine (since FoT has innate attack speed increase 40% if i remember correctly, which will further increase efficiency of your 30% higher DPS weapons for 3 seconds after Blinding Flash).
And you can actually test it to see big difference in the kill speed.
Also, if you add a third monk to your party, you can delegate guiding light to him with putting healing aura on him. Guiding Light procs when refreshing healing aura (that protection buble is treated as direct heal).
Another thing - don't put secondary spirit generator attack on right mouse button - you will get much better control over it if you put it on your keyboard instead (i.e. clicking mouse - keyboard key - mouse - keyboard key is more controllable and less prone for errors than leftMouse-rightMouse-leftMouse-rightMouse..). And when you hit blinding flash, you really don't want to use other attacks than FoT, which will be much easier to control when you have secondary spirit generator on your keyboard.
Yes. Sounds solid enough. This build stacking % increase damage. And we got attack speed mantra aswell. So i thought Foresight would be great buff to genereal dps.
Anyway we should try this with your opinion.
    http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/monk#aUXSYk!gfX!aZbcca (Destroyer Monk)
To be honest i think monk need Sti for high monster power level. Sti is our one of defensive skill for these builds. If we get rid off Sti we will lose ehp for some situations. Am i wrong?
The thing is Beakon of Yatar is the second biggest DPS boost single skill when combined wiht Blinding Flash. Being able to double (or more) your DPS for 3 second each 12 seconds instead of each 15 seconds means 20-25% overal DPS increase (depending on fight length).
Loosing STI means around 1.5k armor which will probably translate to about 60k EHP decrease. That could be offset by increasing your EHP some other way, or if your current EHP is above 560k, then this loss would not be really drastic as it seems.
    Edit:
Checked your profile on rawr, if you loose STI, your EHP will be 486441, while with STI it is around 600k. Even so its a big loss, but it with sufficient LL, 490k EHP is sufficient for MP10 farming.
BTW, for the best sinergy, you want to get a WD to your party as well (one that can pop your big bad woodoo) and wizard with time wrap or stretch time.
With such party (second monk with retribution aura, wd with big bad woodo and wizard with time wrap), you can get paper DPS boost with your Blinding Flash well above 1M for 3 seconds.
    1.0.8
Thanks Nephalem, added your suggested build there. Sadly we cannot consider to get rid of Sti for all monks now. But anyway this is the basic idea we should test together as fellow monks after.
    Updates:
Did couple of runs with several group combination. And discussed it. Heaven Monk need to use Quickening rune to get enough spirit from single target except area target. This is the fact Crippling Wave and Rising Tide rune gives us more spirit when there are a lot of mobs. But if we hit single target then we can't regen enough spirit with Thunderclap rune.
    Reworked Heaven Monk Build:
    http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/monk#aWfSVi!gbX!YbZcaZ
    New additional Roles: (Heaven Monk)
    - When there is alot of mob use Crippling Wave instead of Fist of Thunder to get much more spirit from each target.
    - When you focus single target use Fists of Thunder to get enough spirit.
Can you explain further about Mantra of Retribution? How can we measure the dps output in game when this mantra is activated?
PS: in addition to the attack speed bonus
I tested your build, the radius of the Breath of Heaven is only 12 yards. My friend monk has EF which fears the mobs. In real game, we are not always side by side. I replaced implosion by Soothing Breeze. I do not need Exalted Sould because Rising Tide generates enough spirit for me, I added another Guiding light. Result is pretty good but also because we have a CM wizard with 250k dps and a barbare with 300k dps in the group. My friend monk has 250k dps and me 238kdps.
We tested the same with another CM Wizard who has 160kdps, although both monks remain the same, the killing is much slower. So the assumption needs to take into account the dps of other players in the group as well.
PS: My friend monk dps is up to 700k dps when blind activated, me 315k dps with the change build.
